Interior Design Trends for Spring 2020

March 10, 2020

We’ve definitely had a length chilly spell here in Vancouver, but Spring is just around the corner! The new season is the perfect opportunity to give your home a bright, fun design update. We’ve put together 5 interior design tips perfect for the warmer weather.

Spring Greens

The colour green tends to be reserved for plants, but why not switch things up by incorporating this colour as an accent? Green might seem like a risky choice, but it’s actually a fun way to liven up a space. If you’d rather not take the plunge into green cabinets just yet, a kitchen backsplash with pops of mint green is a subtle-yet-stylish way to give this colour a try.

Freestanding Bath Tubs

How dreamy does this setup look? Another thing we’re seeing for Spring are freestanding bath tubs. One of the simplest ways to make any bathroom, regardless of size, feel more luxurious is to add a beautiful bathtub. The sculptural design of freestanding tubs helps give the bathroom an instant chic upgrade, perfect for cozy Sundays or taking it easy after a busy day of work.

Multiple Wall Prints

Art prints are a classic way to incorporate personal style and character to a space. If you have multiple art prints, why not turn them into an accent wall? While minimalist art prints are a trend this season, don’t be afraid to mix and match colourful prints to make a statement (this works better if you have a lighter wall colour, preferably white).

Curved Sofas

Retro and vintage decor always seem find their way back in style, and this season is no different. At one point, rounded or curved sofas might have been considered unappealing, but today they’ve been given a contemporary upgrade. A clever way to offset the statement of the curved sofa is by choosing a modern colour, like a salmon pink or neutral pastel. If you aren’t ready to go all-in on a full curved sofa, opt for a chaise instead!

Decorate with Baskets

While it might seem like the wicker/basket trend is more of a Summer thing, it’s actually a great Spring trend, too! Specifically, it’s a simple way to transition from Spring to Summer, so feel free to use this style in the latter portion of the season.

This trend goes beyond just baskets for storage. Switch things up by adding some colour to your basket accessories (bonus points for using multiple colours!). Here’s another sneaky tip: If you have smaller baskets, you can actually alternate between using them as storage and as chic wall hangings.
